About Me: Dr. Nancy A. Logan
Nancy A. Logan, Ph.D. is a certified and licensed psychologist in private practice of clinical psychology.
Dr. Logan was awarded her Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin in 1987. Her post-doctoral training was at San Marcos Treatment Center (SMTC), a long term residential psychiatric hospital center for adolescents. Following her training year, she was retained by SMTC as a Supervising Psychologist and member of the Medical Executive Committee. In 1990, she began her private practice of clinical psychology in New Braunfels, Texas.
Dr. Logan was very active in the New Braunfels community, often giving local workshops or presentations on mental wellness to educational, medical or service groups. She wrote weekly mental wellness articles for the New Braunfels Herald Zeitung and other newspapers.
Dr. Logan was an adjunct professor at Texas Lutheran College (now Texas Lutheran University) for several years. Later, she was an adjunct professor for The University of Texas Health Science Center, Psychiatry Department, to assist medical students in learning mental status evaluations. Dr. Logan presented in local and national workshops and conferences on topics of mental health, treatment strategies, and clinical hypnosis.
Dr. Logan developed a subspecialty in clinical hypnosis and was a member and an Approved Consultant of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. She taught clinical hypnosis in local and national professional conferences. She enjoyed adding this skill to her clinical expertise and finds it to be a powerful tool to increase effectiveness and efficiency of treatment. Hypnosis is an optional tool used at a patient’s request.
Philosophically, Dr. Logan believes that to be content, we must be “healthy and balanced” with our heart, mind, body and soul. Dr. Logan is a moderate Christian, although not a Bible scholar. She frequently works with people of other religions. She values individual differences and other faiths or belief systems as long as they do not promote violence, suppression of human rights, or abuse of animals.
